It has been a busy week for Y1 this week! We have been practising our song and sign language for the Harvest Festival and Y1 performed it beautifully in Church on Thursday! Myself and Mrs Rowlands were so proud of you all!
We our first ‘Show and Tell’ this week by Callum Connor, who spoke so confidently and answered all of the questions he was asked about his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Toy! Well done Callum! A great ‘Show and Tell!’ Next Wednesday we will have a ‘Show and Tell’ from James Evans. We are all looking forward to it!
School council elections took place on Friday and Y1 are proud to present their new school council representatives… Brooke Cheetham and Callum Connor! Well done to you both!
Our Champion Child this week is… Nina Oseni! Nina received Champion Child for trying her hardest with her singing and looking like she thoroughly enjoyed it as she had a huge smile on her face!
Finally, some of our Y1 boys were asked to take part in the Y1 EFC Football Fun Festival on Friday afternoon at Chesterfield High School. The children did really well and won a game 2-0! Well done to all of our boys and I will be putting the photographs up on the blog shortly!
Thanks again Y1 for another lovely week at school!

Hello!
Welcome back to Year 1! We hope you had a lovely summer holidays, year one have been telling us all about them!
Year one have settled into their new class brilliantly and have explored their classroom to find out what we have to learn and play with.
Over the past two weeks we have been learning to count forwards to 20 and back, learning all about labels, lists and captions. We have been around the school and taken photographs of all of the different activities that each class were doing. Also, we have been introduced to Barnaby Bear who is going to take us on his travels around the world. Year one have also done a lot of singing in preparation for our Harvest Festival in Church!
Our first Champion Child was Josh Maher for coming into school sensibly every day and always having a smile on his face! Well done Josh!
This week’s Champion Child is Alexandra Doyle for being honest and kind and coming up with some brilliant descriptions of Barnaby Bear! Keep it up Alexandra and I know you will look after Pooh Bear for me this week!
It’s been a busy 2 weeks so far but we have had a brilliant time and we are sure that the fun and learning in Year One will continue! Have a great weekend and we will see you all on Monday!

Just a little good luck message from Mrs Hogan and I, to say thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts that you gave us at the end of the summer term. We wish you well in your new class, and when you’ve settled in – come and tell us all about it! Can’t wait to see you all – We bet you’ve grown so so much with all the rain we’ve had in the summer.
Lots of Love Miss Newham and Mrs Hogan x x x x
P.S Will you remember to help us look after the new Reception?
