The Months of the Year Song

Today we are learning about the months of the year and the order they go in. We used a great song to help us.

Three more heroes and a packet of biscuits!

Aidan is our Champion Child this week for his world famous writing in his Big Purple Writing Book and, as well as big peoples’ choice, we had a childrens vote. The choice of our class was Mia and Jack. Here they all are on a http://www.rockyou.com/ presentation.

 By the way Mrs Rafferty bought a packet of Go Ahead biscuits from Home and Bargain today for after her tea tonight (instead of lovely ice cream) but the flavour she bought was “Mexican Red Pepper“! Apparently they weren’t very nice! The ice cream was though!! He he!

Through the wind and the rain!

Y1 played at the Everton Football Festival on Friday and did very well in their first competitive tournament. They played four games, won two, lost one and drew one game. Everyone played really well and Jack and Kyle scored lots of goals.  It was a bit rainy though!

Work, rest and play!

On Tuesday we did all three. Starting with Sounds~Write we then carried on with a look at “all our yesterdays”..well sort of….we are just looking at the difference between now and then which included the story of how when Mr Rafferty was in Reception class when he was little the whole class had an afternoon nap!

After that, and looking at a book that described new and old toys, we used the adventure trail for a bit of activity. After play we did a series of one minute challenges – it was quite hard work and Y2 joined in as well!!

After lunch we had an afternoon nap, went investigating flowers and plants, some creative activities and a story to finish off.

Eventually we have got Sean, Elizabeth (and her great big strawberry) and now Courtney on our blog with photographs.

Doing Time

Friday was Golden Time Nintendo/PSP day and we had a lovely time! We may have one net week as well because Ryan and Billy missed our activities.

Well done to Courtney who was Champion Child on Friday we will catch up on pictures next week.

Wednesday

We had a lovely day today. We started with registration which we did by saying which month we were born in. Then, after assembly, we did whole class Sounds~Write. We looked at words which include the u, oo, and oul sounds in, like full and cook and would – we used clipboards …….which we “found” in the Juniors…..but don’t tell them they might want them back!!

Begonia came in for our spanish lesson. After play we did RM Maths and “Which container can fit the most water in” – we didn’t spill a drop!!

After lunch – everyone was on the field today and there was one or two muddy knees after the great big Y1 footy match – we did Paint and Play. We did hand painting today so it was a bit strange to find paint on socks and knees…….as well as hair and hands!! If you want to blame someone …blame Faye ….it was her idea to do hand and feet painting!!

We did some excellent tidying away and then went home. See you tomorrow.

Sean, Elizabeth and the great big strawberry

Sean was our Champion Child this week and was delighted to recieve the award from his good friend Nathan. Well done Sean.

Last week Elizabeth managed to find the world’s biggest strawberry!

There might be a bit of paint here and there tonight!

If there is it is because our Paint’n'Play activity was painting with feet! So there might be a bit of paint between toes or on the edge of trousers. We did have good fun though and Faye suggested that next week we paint with our hands! Good call Faye!
