Blogs are really handy
Our Science topic this half term is all about plants. With having a grotty bit of plant things outside our classroom (I don’t really know what else to call them!) it would be a good idea to combine the study of plants and doing a bit to make things look nicer. Well I scanned around my favourite t.v. channel …..Teachers TV (not Sky Sports for me) and found video clips that might get some good ideas from the children.
So to go directly to the video clips and use ICT as part of our lesson and use the weblog as a teaching tool and not have to fiddle around making sure that the right link is there………long and complicated sentence but I think you know what I mean….

That’s why blogs are really useful!

Here some links that we will be using this week.
The first provides a lot of Numercy resources. We will be using the one called partition because we are studying tens and units.
http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Interactive.aspx and of course the Number Crew will help with a video at http://www.teachers.tv/video/2381
Another link is  http://kids.direct.gov.uk/ This is a brilliant resource and it is all to do with everyday life.
Both links will appear in our links section.
I have been contemplating the idea of getting rid of paper homework and setting it on our blog. To do this effectively most of our children need access to a computer. We have discussed this in class a little while ago and everyone said they had the internet and used the website. To find out whether this idea is feasible could you respond on our vote section.
The result of the last poll meant that Mrs Cassidy was fed to some particularly hungry crocodiles. Although this is a bit sad the crocs did say that she was quite tasty and were there any more Green Park staff who might appear on their menu!

Y1 had a great day out in Formby at the Pinewoods. The weather was great, the bus ride was fun and we found out lots about squirrels and climbing up really steep sand dunes!
Ros, our guide, took us round the squirrel section and told us all about how red squirrels live.
Here are some questions she asked:
What is a squirrel’s nest called?
What is a baby squirrel called.
Where do squirrels hide their food?
What happens if they forget where they have hidden their food?
Why can you not see many squirrels on Mondays at Formby Pinewoods?
If you know the answer to any of these question send in the answers.
When Ros finished she said that the children were really good and that they had listenend very well.
We had our lunch and a play and then we went on an adventure up the big hill and down onto the beach. It was good fun. Mr Rafferty had to pull an old bag up a sports bag up the hill but Mrs Davies didn’t mind !
Then it was time to go home so we got on the bus, went back to school and went home. It was a really good day, a few tans were topped up and the children were great.
Thanks to Y2 for inviting us and organising the trip…. even though we say they are yacky Y2 we do like them a little bit!

We read a fantastic book today called “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.
Follow this link and it will take you straight to Amazon.
My copy came with a sticker about Great Books to Read Aloud. There is a link to their website in the Literacy section.
If you do look at the Amazon site search for “Q Pootle 5″. That’s our next book.

The Easter holidays are over. It’s back to school. I hope everyone had a great time and didn’t eat too many Easter Eggs!
I love digging and painting………….which is what I seemed to do most of the time. But it’s all done now!
One thing, you will need to get some green fingers for the next half term……..we’re growing plants!
