Tuesday
We had a very busy day today. We started with Sounds~Write using our white boards and pens. We concentrated on the names of each capital letter and writing and saying and ended with a quiz to see if we could remember the names of each letter. Then we had a go at cc (careful colouring), cc (careful cutting) and cs (careful sticking). We did this for a short while but we went for our Tuesday whatever the weather walk and took Pablo and his new friend Woolie to show them our school.
You can see our photographs of our walk here………….

We also saw Y4 going to the baths. Miss Rice said “hello” to Pablo.
When we got back we changed into our P.E. kits so that we would be ready to go into the hall after play. In P.E. we ran and jumped, climbed and slid and had a great time. We worked individually and with a partner.
When we got back to class we changed into our school uniform quickly(ish) and said adios to Sophie.
After lunch we did some take aways. You can see the interactive teaching program we used by clicking on http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary/teachingresources/mathematics/nns_itps/number_facts/
It is quick and easy to set up and is fun to use to reinforce number bonds to 10 and how to take away. It helps with number sentences too. After that we did some coordination skills work on squared paper. Mrs Brankin and I came across this idea in Madrid (they are doing the same in Y2) and it really helps with fine motor skills.
After last play we finished (or nearly finished) our cc,cc and cs and stuck our work on the wall so that everyone could see how hard we had tried and how well we had done.
Then we tidied up, Mrs Cassidy read us a story, we put our coats and scarves and hats on and said the loudest “Good afternoon……………..” that has ever been said.
After all that and such a busy day we had not done our handwriting, our own number sentences and looked at the story of “Anna’s Amazing Multicoloured Glasses” Ah well Wednesday is just another day!

Our family of bears have got even more friends. Jenny took hers to see two of Green Park former pupils, Tom and James. Jenny’s bear has come all the way from South Africa. I wonder what the bear is called?
You can see the photographs here.

Reece had a busy time with his teddy. Oliver (the teddy) and Reece went to Knowsley Safari Park. Watch out for the lions!

Thank you very much Jenny and Reece. Pablo Bear enjoyed looking at pictures of his new friends and would love to meet them in school.

At the moment I am trying to get a hit counter installed onto the website so that we can see how many times the site is being viewed. There is a section on the admin part that allows the number of hits to be logged in the previous 30 days but it can’t be shown as a public figure. The figure so far on the Year 1 Blog for the last 30 days is approaching 5000 hits. This is a fantastic figure! Thanks to everyone who has made it such a great success for the children.

Filed under Uncategorized | Comments (7)Hello everyone in Y1. We are in Madrid and have been looking at the school in Madrid. It is a lovely school and we are having a nice time.
It is raining though and Mr Hewer said that it would be sunny and warm so all I brought to wear was t shirts and shorts…………………………..!
I hope that you have been very nice to Mrs Farmer and Mrs Cassidy and you have worked hard.
Have a nice holiday and see you soon.
Tuesday
Tuesday has been a very busy day.
We started by taking turns at talking and especially listening. Then we looked at a Knowedge Box animation about how animals move and then tried to use some moving words to get the class to guess different moving words………………….like slither, run, crawl and swim.
We then went on a leaf adventure and tried to count how many leaves had fallen to the floor. There are just too many but we did watch lots of leaves falling from trees as the wind blew. When we got back we got changed so we would be ready for P.E. after play.
We had some more great fun and finished the lesson by walking across the Lake of Doom. If we fell in the crocodiles, alligators and sharks would eat us up. We just made it !
After lunch Mrs Cassidy showed us lots of different things about the bears.
When we went home we set a new world record! Everyone (yes I did say everyone) put their own coat and jumper on without any help and lined up with book bags ready to go home The whole of Year 1 got three Golden Time Stars each!

We had assembly first followed by P.E. . Reece and Red both said “I love P.E.” and we did have a good time today. We climbed and balanced and jumped and ran. Everyone did very well and we all had a go. After play we did a bit of number – subtraction facts to 5. Knowledge Box with the Number Crew is a great help.
After lunch we did some writing in our important books, finished off pictures with Mrs Caddick, carried on our story about the Giant Killers and then when everyone had remembered they had come into school with a coat and a jumper, we went home.
Y1 really tried their best today and I was very pleased with their efforts.
