In the Infants we use the Literacy Profile from a website called www.firstschoolyears.com  . It has proved to be very useful and should you like to download the pack for use at home you are more than welcome.

The Great Cheshire Lines Picnic

July 16th, 2006

We had a great time. We set off from school and very soon we were faced with the prospect of Lions and tigers and bears but, because of our bravery we survived…………only to be faced by the prospect of the Troll Bridge. We spotted a couple of strange looking things by the bridge but they looked suspiciously like Mrs Reed and Mrs Calleja!

Then we followed the tracks across the field and far away and headed off to distant lands.

When we got there we found a bridge and we were right on top of it. We had to get down and there was only one path. We just about made it………………although Mrs Jump very nearly didn’t!!

A view from a bridge!

Then we found a place for our picnic. Even French Bear joined in.

CIMG1096.JPG But he wouldn’t walk….he had to be carried!

After we had had our lunch it was time to head back home. Getting up to the top of the bridge was a challenge but we all made it!

And when we got home we had to sit down.

We had a lovely time. Thank you to Mrs Caddick, Mrs Jump, Mrs Calleja, Miss Ashley, Mrs Quinn, Mrs Cassidy and Mrs Reed and of course the brave, intrepid adventurers who were wonderfully behaved.

The new digital camera

July 8th, 2006

We have bought five Digital Blue cameras for the school. Year 1 have been first to use them.We can take still pictures or short video shots. We all had a go by having a wander round the school – inside and out. Our favourite clip at the moment was one taken by Alex and Niamh. Click on the link below to watch it.

We hope you enjoy it and soon we will put more of our collection onto our bit of the website.

Putting a video on the web for others to see is easy (although I didn’t think so before I started doing this website thingy). If you want to try, follow the link.

This is the intended route for our picnic. Mrs Reed is coming with us and is in charge of the map. We are a bit worried about ending up in Glasgow!

Today we learned about……………

July 5th, 2006

Today we learned about adding up and taking away. We learned about writing about our school………non – fiction writing. We learned some more spanish with our new teacher Miss Ashley. Then we did some work on position with Mrs Cassidy (by the way if you click on the link below you can have a go at our work) We were going to carry on with “The Twits” at the end of the day but instead we watched the storm from our window!

p.s. This is not a picture from today but it is a nice picture so I thought I would include it.

(By the way I’m trying to put our famous home video onto the site – the children know all about it - but I’m trying to find out a bit of information about video hosting and I am just waiting for a reply to a request. Once it is sorted it will be available.)

Comments

July 1st, 2006

Each blog on the Green Park website has a facility to send a comment (have a look at the San Il defonso section). Before the comment is posted it has to be moderated to match up with our “acceptable use” policy.

On each entry in each blog there is a small bit of writing that says “no comments”. This is the section for comments (a bit confusing really). It means that no comments have been posted.

If you would like to send a message about our work or our website then please do. Thankyou.

Poetry in Year 1

July 1st, 2006

On Friday we made up some poetry about Year 1 and we recorded it. Mr Rafferty said he would put it on the website. He tried before he went to play football on Friday night but found out the website doesn’t like files like that so he had to enter in very important technical discussions with the web team to sort out the problems. As soon as the solution is found everyone will be able to hear the lovely poetry that Year 1 came up with.

This is the solution……I Think. If you click on the link below you should be able to hear the children.
