A great big thank you!

A great big thank you from Mrs Rowlands and myself for all the kind gifts and words that we received at the end of term. The presents were really lovely……athough I’m not sure about the Everton wine! Mrs Rafferty keeps eyeing those chocolates enviously but she’s not allowed to eat them!

Hi everyone in the old Y1!

This is just a quick note to say stay in touch over the summer. I am going to my daughter’s graduation at Edge Hill College today - she is a Paediatric Special Needs Disability Nurse - and used to go to Green Park when she was little!

I have a bit of decorating to do beforeI go away on holiday, so if you hear the sound of falling ladders or paint tins splashing - that will be me!

I will be putting some things to do things here so watch out!

Four more get ups and then………..

……………its Year 2 !

The year seems to have flown by and it seems the children of Year 1 have grown up so much! They are a lovely class and have joined in with our activities with lots of good humour and cheerful spirit and I know that Mr Reed and Mrs Brankin are looking forward lots to seeing them in September.

If you have any particular memories about your time in Year 1 send in ideas and we will include them in our blog.

Today Megan and Amy and Hannah have come to do some writing.

Megan came to our house today and she did some great writing. She is in the Reception class at St Andrew’s school in Soham.

Isabella, Knowledge Box and Internet Safety

Isabella was voted Y1’s Champion Child this week. Well done for your hard work and being nice.

We used Knowedge Box this week to send each other messages (it’s a bit like an internal Green Park e-mail system) and the talkboard. We are the first class to use it and next week we are going to “buddy up” with Y4 to show them how its done!

Using Knowledge Box in this way enabled us to start talking about internet safety and how important this is. To help all children develop awareness of safe and effective internet use http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ is a site especially made for this purpose. For Y1 children the area to look at is http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/5_7/hectorsworld/

The link to http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk is on all of our class blogs.

Sports Day

Y1 were all brilliant today at Sports day. Well done. There are lots of video’s at http://raff31.blip.tv/ Click on the link to see lots of us, and some other children as well!

Have a look at http://albums.phanfare.com/greenparkschool/2242558#imageID=33853000 as well. Bethany and Abigail from Y2 took some photographs for us.

Hello Y1

I’m back at Formby learning about Sefton’s new Virtual Learning Environment and how to set new lessons for you to do in school……………..or at home.

I have been showing two secondary school teachers http://www.bubbl.us/

We haven’t used it in our class yet but on Friday in ICT we are going to have a go. If you want to practice first have a go and let me what you think.

The adventures of Y1

This week we had lots of different adventures and we finished the week with Golden Time by watching the adventures of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Have a look at some of the things we got up to by going to http://albums.phanfare.com/greenparkschool/2212538

Sadie and Jack were voted this week’s class choice. Well done to you two.

Only three more Fridays to go and then……………….the big world of Y2 awaits!

Hello Rachael!

We are having a lovely time today but we are missing you. Hope to see you soon.

We had a lovely time at Southport.

Miss Newham got there first………….!

………………with the title “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!” www.reception.greenparkschool.org.uk

We had a great time at Southport and the beach. The children enjoyed the day out and were really well behaved and they did their best to bring back as much sand as possible!
